Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data DefenseNetwork collects, how we use it, and your rights around it.

1. What We Collect

Account data: email address, password (hashed), and the name and role you provide at signup.

Profile data: clearance level (self-reported), availability status, location, skills, country interests, and resume files you choose to upload. This is optional and you control what you share.

Usage data: pages visited, searches performed, and companies saved to your shortlist. We use this to improve the platform — we do not sell it.

Content: forum posts, replies, and messages you send to other users.

Payment data: billing is handled by Stripe. We do not store card details. We receive subscription status and billing history from Stripe.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to operate the platform, send transactional emails (notifications, account confirmations, billing receipts), and improve features based on usage patterns.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with third parties except as required to operate the service (Supabase for database/auth, Resend for email, Stripe for billing).

3. Profile Visibility

Your contractor profile — if you create one — is visible to other authenticated DefenseNetwork members. This includes your display name, headline, clearance level, location, skills, and availability status.

Your email address, resume files, and private messages are never visible to other users.

Forum posts marked anonymous are displayed without your name, but your account is still associated with them in our systems for moderation purposes.

4. Resume Files

Resume files you upload are stored in private cloud storage. They are accessible only to you and are not indexed or shared. You can delete them at any time from your dashboard.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile, resumes, forum posts, and messages are permanently deleted within 30 days. Some data (billing records) may be retained longer for legal and tax compliance.

6. Cookies

We use session cookies to keep you logged in. We do not use third-party tracking or advertising cookies.

7. Your Rights

You can update or delete your profile at any time from your account settings. To request deletion of your account and all associated data, email hello@defensenetwork.us.

8. Security

Passwords are hashed and never stored in plaintext. Data in transit is encrypted via TLS. We use Supabase's Row Level Security to enforce data access controls at the database level.

9. Changes

We'll notify you by email of material changes to this policy. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent version.
